My name is Claire and I am ending my freshman year at UC Berkeley. I am a Media Studies major and plan to pursue a career in public relations and marketing. I am also working on my real estate license with hopes to be a licensed agent by July, 2022. I attended Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland, CA where I was a member of the CA Scholarship Federation, National Honor Society, a 4-year distinguished honor student as well as a Captain of my varsity cheer team. I am also a life member of the Girl Scouts of America and have logged over 300 hours of community service. I have been working part-time as well as carrying a full load of courses so that I can graduate in May, 2025 and possibly continue on to get a master’s degree.
The reason I am asking for your support is because my financial aid does not cover all of my tuition and housing expenses. I currently have a balance due and I am not able to register for next semester. I also will require financial support for the fall semester knowing that the aid is not going to cover 100% of the fees. My mom is a single parent and not able to cover all of the expenses for my college education. She has been making payments towards my tuition and housing and applied for loans, but it still does not cover it all.
UC Berkeley was my number one college choice because of their high academic standards. As you can see in my pictures, I have been preparing for CAL all my life! I think I have been to every game since I was born. My father, who passed away a few years ago, graduated from UC Berkeley. It was his dream for me to attend and I know he is so proud that I am here living out his legacy.
I appreciate any support you can give. Thank you in advance.
